About Us

The Natty Records Store is the fulfillment of the dream of Wendell E. Anderson, Sr. At the age of five, Wendell and his family sat around a small black and white TV. The family would watch Uncle Melvin, the first African American to perform on ‘The Ted Mack Amateur Hour.’ After watching Uncle Melvin, Wendell said, “I don’t know how he got in that box but that’s what I want to do-sing.”

After graduating high school and attending The Ohio State University, Wendell served in the U.S. Air Force, from 1977 – 1985. While in the Air Force, he would compete and win the Male Solo Vocal category for the 1979 Tops in Blue tour. Wendell toured with and worked for Air Force Entertainment Tops In Blue (TIB) worldwide from 1979 - 1983. After honorably separating from the Air Force, he would relocate to Kingston, NY. He would perform throughout the Catskills and other known venues in the Kingston area. Never giving up on his dream of singing, Wendell eventually packed up his Chevy Citation Hatchback and drive to Los Angeles, CA in search for the fulfillment of his dream.

He worked on the stage crew and continued to act with small parts in several sitcoms, ‘A Different World’, “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and ‘Martin.’ Wendell received his first television song writing credits for performing live on camera with Robert Guillaume on “Pacific Station.” In 1989, Wendell became and remains the lead singer with The Hues Corporation. Their biggest hit single, “Rock the Boat” is the most played single from the 70’s. In 2010 Wendell returned to his hometown, Cincinnati, OH. He began building Natty Entertainment and Media LLC aka Natty Records.

Often the only person to believe in you is you. The visualization of his dream for an eCommerce store began to unfold. Wendell along with his wife, Sarah, would start researching to learn how to set up an online store. November 2020, a little over a month after their 3rd wedding anniversary, his dream becomes a reality. Natty Records Store opens.

Natty Records Signature Product Line Keep it Musical! are the building block products for the store. The line consists of t-shirts, hoodies, coffee mugs, tank tops, tote bags, and more items with the logos of all of the entities under the Natty  Entertainment and Media LLC umbrella. With awesome fans who want souvenirs, now they can easily get them. Additionally the store was expanded  to provide apparel for the stage as well as casual attire, electronics, pet items, and more. As artists, it can become a challenge to find the “right” stage outfit. Not only have we found it, we made it easy for others to find it.

Wendell’s words of wisdom to budding artists; “Life is filled with ups and downs, ins and outs, slips and surges, but you must hold on. Your dream is depending on it! Still singing, still performing; that’s what I do. But remaining faithful and true to the cause, the reward is worth it.”
